My practice is a reflection of my fascination for natural environments and its relationship to various sociopolitical developments throughout history. By questioning the very nature of war and mankind’s perversion and the impact these have on the environment around us, I intend to raise awareness to those themes which people are often ashamed to reflect upon.
The majority of my work exhibits a very strong personal view on political, social and religious issues and that is achieved through a particular technique of deconstructing landscapes and involving the overlap of different layers to my paintings with different materials – mainly oil paint and Indian ink. More importantly, the final product offers not only a critique of the current status quo, but also provides the audience with a sense of hope for the future.
The conceptual component of my artwork is not fixed; but constantly shifting. Thus, rather than a linear and stable artistic path, I have demonstrated a capacity to develop an extremely varied and diverse collection of works while simultaneously creating a unique and personal painting technique. This has a been a clear positive consequence of my wide range of influences from travelling and volunteering around the world to even participating in human rights protests or by simply exploring the history of our civilization
